Comte Abbatucci
Jean-Charles Abbatucci
The Domaine Comte Abbatucci is managed by Jean-Charles Abbatucci. Located in South West Corsica, in the Taravo valley (25km from Propriano), the Estate extends over 18 hectares of granite arena slopes. The wines (all biodynamic) are remarkable; in the magnificent blends, each grape variety is involved in bringing aromas, freshness, substance or consistency: the wines are digestible and fine, thanks to the refusal of excessive interventionism, and the maturing has been refined thanks to to the contribution of lightning and concrete eggs.
Vinification: Since 2000, the Estate has been cultivated in biodynamic agriculture. The production thus endeavors to preserve the original and specific flavors of the Corsican terroir, taking into account nature and the soils. Technical monitoring is carried out in biodynamics. This method helps to regenerate soils and plants: the work periods are chosen according to the lunar cycles and the time of day, and uses herbal and mineral preparations. On a living land and with respect for the environment, the vineyard produces healthy and balanced grapes which, once vinified, transcribe all the aromas of the Corsican maquis (immortal and myrtle in particular). Harvests are only manual, the density per hectare is 3,500 vines. Grass is permanent and natural in the inter-row. The tillage is done in the row. The size is in Royat double cordon. The flock of sheep grazes in the vines during the winter. During winemaking, only indigenous yeasts are used.
