I've known Nicolas Despagne for years. He has always taken care of his production but the wines sometimes lacked a little purity of fruit and the tannins were often presented in a harsh manner. A few happy changes (a new press, a new sorting table, etc.) have enabled this property to reach new heights of quality hitherto unknown. Nicolas' wines are now great wines for pleasure. The efforts made in the vineyard, which has been carried out biodynamically since 2001, are now bearing fruit. Since 2007, Maison Blanche wines have been among the best wines of Bordeaux. The special "Louis Rapin" sulfur-free Cuvée is a pure masterpiece, but all the other wines are equally delicious. Gourmet, rich and smooth, they have both charm in their youth and a remarkable aging potential. The sulfur-free wines from Nicolas are breathtaking. It is absolutely necessary to discover them.
