Domaine Duseigneur
Bernard Duseigneur
“Catarina” is a plot selection from the locality “La Cerise” in the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vines are 40 years old on average. The soils are clay-limestone, of the rolled pebble type. These are very hard granitic metamorphic rocks of alpine origin called Quartzite (mainly composed of silica). Their rounded and polished shape reveals the work of the Rhône waters over the ages. In Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the pebbles are mixed with red clay rich in iron oxide. This quartzite / clay association is exceptional in geology. It allows the vine to benefit from reserves of water and mineral elements returned to the roots. The wines produced on these soils are rich and opulent with aromas of ripe fruit.
