Located in the German Rheingau region, their vineyard benefits from a cool continental climate.

Both Urban and his wife Eva are new to winemaking. Unseen in the wine scene, and that is precisely why it makes their story so amazing especially because Eva awarded quality labels to wines at a certain time in her career. For 17 years she was the manager of the VDP, the German winegrowers' association.  Urban was a cheesemaker, and wanted a new life, a new purpose and career. He decided to follow his passion for wine, and took over an existing wine domain and changed the name to Weingut Kaufmann. He also took the time to transpose the vineyard to biodynamic agriculture and winemaking.

Funny fact: can you guess the origin from Urban when looking at the Riesling bottle? Red with a white cross? ;-)
