Marc Tempé
Marc Tempé
Marc Tempé is a unique and colorful character. He is one of the few to practice biodynamic viticulture without the slightest concession to modernity. With him, everything is guided by instinct and some of his wines ferment in the cellar for several years, sometimes beyond 3 years! All the wines (1er Crus and Grands Crus) are aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 2 to 3 years. This early marriage in constant equilibrium with oxygen seems to give the wines a particular resistance to oxidation. The barrels are bought second-hand at the Leflaive estate. With a 100/100 in the Wine Advocate and, even better, a 20/20 twice in the Bettane & Desseauve Guide, Marc Tempé is today the most highly rated producer in Alsace. Its wines are becoming very coveted. The wines are all breathtaking, with wonderfully different vintages, all surprising, but always delicious and always successful. Each plot is a discovery that is renewed with each vintage. Yes, really, Marc Tempé makes white wines that I consider to be among the greatest on earth. Thanks to biodynamics, its wines are of total purity, without the slightest addition of chemical inputs of any kind. You have to believe that I am not the only one to admire the remarkable work of Marc Tempé since he is currently the best rated producer of all French producers in the reference guide for French wines: Bettane & Desseauve. No wonder then that "NOMA", the restaurant of the young Dane, of Macedonian origin, René Redzepi, still considered one of the 3 best restaurants in the world, presents Marc Tempé wines on its menu! The wines are sometimes dry, sometimes fruity and suave, sometimes downright mellow ... always wonderful and even touching the sublime when you taste Mambourg, Schoenenbourg or the breathtaking "Furstentum" ... my favorite dry white wine of our little planet! The last vintages in Grafenreben and Rodelsberg are magnificent!
