In Homer's epics, "Oenops" (Οἴνωψ) signifies "the color of wine."
Oenops Wines is the pioneering venture of experienced oenologist Nikos Karatzas, established in late 2015 in the Drama region. After years of working at some of the leading wineries in the area and driven by a quest for innovation and excellence, Nikos decided to break from tradition and embark on an ambitious journey:
"Our aim is to create top-quality, authentic dry wines with minimal intervention."
To achieve this, he seeks out old vineyards with indigenous grape varieties and remarkable terroirs across Greece, and, crucially, collaborates with passionate grape-growers to build lasting partnerships.
Environmentally friendly practices are employed in both the vineyards and the cellar to ensure a sustainable approach to winemaking.
