Sumarroca is one of the largest producers in the Penedès which is still 100% family owned. The Sumarrocas have invested heavily in the vineyard in recent years. They are among the only big houses not to buy grapes from outside for the production of their Cava since they are at the head of more than 480 hectares of vines in ownership! The entire vineyard has been cultivated organically for several years. The wines are currently all organic as well as the CAVA but the label will not be granted until next year because they are in the process of certification. The whole range is amazing in terms of Quality / Price ratio and there is no doubt that Cava Brut Nature is one of the best Quality / Price ratio in terms of "bubbles" currently available on the European market. As for the Cuvée Nuria Claverol "Homenatje" ... don't look for it ... it is quite simply one of the best CAVAs that I know ... Superior to Gramona Brut Impérial, Juve y Camps and many other major brands, it is only supplanted by the prestige Cuvées from RECAREDO. The price is certainly high but the quality is absolutely sumptuous, not to mention the presentation in a superb bottle which completely protects the CAVA from light. This "Nuria Claverol" is part of the new name "CAVA de Paraje" (DOC) which marks a considerable difference between the 150 million bottles of CAVA and these vintages which correspond to well-defined qualitative criteria (See sheet of Nuria Claverol)
